Man hospitalised after Nukunuku shooting [1]

A 22-year-old man is recovering at Vaiola Hospital after being shot in the stomach on Hihifo Road at Nukunuku, Tongatapu, last night, June 20.

Deputy Police Commissioner Pelenatita Fe`ao Vaisuai said today, a 40-year-old man was arrested from Nukunuku, after midnight last night in relation to a shooting.

The victim is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach, which resulted from an altercation with the suspect, she said.

Police had seized a .22 rifle from the suspect, who remains in custody as police investigation continues.
