Three arrests for illicit cannabis and firearm [1]

Three men were arrested in separate seizures of illicit drugs, including a man from Lapaha who was found with cannabis and a firearm smuggled in a shipment from the United States.
Deputy Police Commissioner Pelenatita Fe`ao Vaisuai said on Friday, May 24 the Drug Enforcement Taskforce jointly with Customs intercepted 10.62 grams of cannabis, a .22 rifle and 76 live bullets smuggled in a shipment from America.
A 50-year-old man from Lapaha was arrested together with the shipment on his way out of a bondage warehouse at Ma‘ufanga.
He has been charged for the importation of illicit drugs and importation of Arms and Ammunition without a licence.
Cannabis
On Satuday, May 25 at around 2:00pm the Drug Taskforce seized 58 cannabis plants from a bush allotment in Lapaha.
Two men in their early 30s have been arrested and charged with cultivation of illicit drugs.
“These arrests should reassure the community that disrupting and preventing illicit drugs supply is a high priority for Police. We will continue to target those who supply illicit drugs within our community, and hold them to account for their crimes while keeping our communities safe."
