Soldiers assault case up for Supreme Court [1]

The case against three soldiers charged in the assault of a man at Vaini last year is to be called on June 17 for committal to the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa.
The three, Paea he Lotu Sika, 'Apolosi Vea and ‘Alunga Maka, who have been charged in the assault, including that of serious bodly harm had their case called at the Magistrate's Court on Monday, May 20.
The case was then adjourned to June 17 to be committed to the Supreme Court for a trial to be set, said the Prosecution today.
Tonga Police had initially reported that the victim, a civilian had allegedly thrown something at a bus carrying the soldiers. This resulted in the soldiers getting off the bus and the alleged assault occurred.
Pictures, allegedly of this assault by uniformed men, were then posted and circulated on social media.
