A Queensland jury has found a Tongan couple, 'Isikeli and Malavine Pulini, guilty of forcing a Fijian woman into servitude as a housemaid at their home in Brisbane between 2008 and 2016. It took the jury less than a day of deliberation to make their decision.

The victim – who was not named – told the Brisbane District Court that she arrived to Brisbane in 2008 on a tourist visa organised by the couple. She stated that her passport was confiscated and she was forced to work for $150 to $250 per fortnight. It was revealed that she had previously worked in Tonga for the Pulini family.

The court found Malavine guily of forced labour and human trafficking, while 'Isikeli was found guilty of forced labour.
