Methamphetamine cases adjourned to May [1]

Two methamphetamine cases with the Magistrate’s Court have been further adjourned to May awaiting the result of drug tests from New Zealand.
Kanokupolu
Finau Mahe (41) who is charged in the seizure of drugs, alleged to be methamphetamine worth $460,000 pa’anga, at a home in Kanokupolu last year, had his case adjourned to May 27.
He appeared at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court on November 26, 2018 and had his case called in February this year, and again adjourned.
The Magistrate’s Court Office in Nuku’alofa confirmed today the adjournment was to await the test result of the substance.
On November 14, Tonga Police Drugs Enforcement Taskforce allegedly seized 464 grams of methamphetamine, during a search warrant executed at the home.
Fangaloto
Another five men charged with possession of illicit drugs and other offences, had their case adjourned to May, also awaiting drug test results.
Creed Tongamoa (47) and Pita Talanoa (35) were arrested on November 15, 2018 in their vehicle, during a routine traffic stop on Hihifo Road.
Police seized drugs alleged to be 13.42 grams methamphetamine and 2.06 gramscannabis, and a pistol with live bullets from inside the vehicle. This led to the arrest of Taniela Uasike, Tevita ‘Alatini and Lokuvalu Leha with more drugs and a bullet shell at Tongamoa's property in Fangaloto.
All of the accused have been released on bail pending their next court appearance.
