Nukunuku driver charged in passenger death [1]

A 28-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving causing the death of his passenger, the first road death this year at Fatai.
Police in Nukunuku said today, Liufau Latu who had sustained injuries from the crash was charged after he was released from Vaiola Hospital.
He is expected to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on May 9.
The crash claimed the life of 26-year-old Tevita Moa Taufa also from Nukunuku. He was a front passenger in the vehicle, when it crashed into a power pole on Hihifo road on February 28.
Police reported the crash at around 1:35 am, in which speed and alcohol were alleged contributing factors.
This is the first road death recorded so far this year.
