A petition signed by Pentecostal churches supporting the call for King Tupou VI to dissolve the Tongan Parliament and investigate government, was presented to the Palace Office today, February 26.
The petition was signed by more than 10 various Pentescostal churches, including City Impact, New Life, Kingdom Advance and Revival Hub, among others.
Teisina Fuko, a former MP and former cabinet minister, presented the petition with Pastor Barry Taukolo (Revival Hub) and Pastor Kelepi Misa. It was received by Suka 'Otukolo at the Palace Office.
Fuko said this petition was signed by the small churches of the Pentecostal faith in Tonga, the last of a series of petitions they have presented.
“We are happy that these small churches have signed on to support the efforts of eliminating corruption,” he said.
Earlier on February 18, three Petitions with over 10,000 signatures calling for the King to dissolve the Tongan Parliament and establish the Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the Pohiva government, were presented to the Palace Office.
The petitions were a reaction to what the proponents refer to as “no checks and balances and corruption in government”, presented by Fuko, Clive Edwards and others.
