Drugs taskforce arrests seven in more drug busts [1]

Seven people were arrested by Tonga Police with 14 packs of methamphetamine and two packs of cannabis, in three different locations in Tongatapu, today February 21.
Deputy Commissioner Pelenatita Vaisuai said today that a 43-year-old man was arrested with one pack of methamphetamine, weighing 0.23 grams in Havelu.
This was followed with the arrests of a 47-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman from a home in Pahu with one pack of cannabis (0.36 grams) and drugs paraphernalia.
The Drug Enforcement Taskforce then arrested a 34-year-old man from Vaini who arrived with 10 packs of methamphetamine (2.84 grams) while Police officers were at this location.
In addition, a third drug bust, arrested three more people from a home in Vaini after they were found in possession of three packs of methamphetamine (1.18 grams) and one pack of cannabis (0.86 grams).
The suspects included a 24-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man.
The seven remain in police custody while investigation continues.
“In order to make our streets and homes safe we need to rid our communities of illegal drugs.
“While Police are taking proactive and active measures to address the issues relating to illicit drugs, members of the public are asked to contact Police if they observe any suspicious or unusual behaviour in their communities,” Dep. Commissioner Vaisuai said
