National high school entry exams end today [1]

Pupils from 113 primary schools throughout Tonga completed this year's High School Entrance Examination today, Wednesday October 4.
The two-days examinations started yesterday, October 3, when students sat four papers, English and Mathematics to be followed by Tongan studies and Science today.
According to the Examination Unit of Tonga...s Ministry of Education, 3176 primary school pupils are sitting the exam, being 2,127 from Tongatapu, 535 from Vava'u, 290 from Ha'apai, 171 from 'Eua, and 53 from Niuatoputapu and Niuafo...ou.
The annual High School Entrance Examination is compulsory for primary school class six students in order for those who pass to Form 1 level of any high school in Tonga.
Last year a total of 3,186 primary school students sat the High School Entrance exam and 51 percent of those who sat passed. The passing rate in 2005 and 2004 was 52%.
The examination results will be announced in early December.
