Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Wednesday, September 27, 2006 - 18:03.  Updated on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 18:36.

Dr Sitiveni Halapua, the chairman of Tonga's National Committee for Political Reform (NCPR) will present a copy of their report to the Speaker of the Tongan parliament, Hon. Tu'iha'angana, on Saturday, September 30.

Fatai Pale a member of the NCPR's secretariat said today that despite the fact that the House is not in session and it will reconvene on Monday, the NCPR will adhere to its working schedule to present its report to the House, "at the end of September".

Fatai said that starting next week committee members would visit District and Town Officers and present them with copies of its report. "Copies will also be sent to District and Town Officers in the outer islands."

Fatai could not confirm how many copies of the report they had printed but they were required to make copies available to the public.

The first two copies of the NCPR report were submitted earlier on August 30 to His Late Majesty King Taufa'’ahau Tupou IV while he was still lying ill at Mercy Hospital in Auckland and received by Princess Pilolevu Tuita, and also to King George Tupou V then the Prince Regent, at the Lord Chamberlain'’s office in Nuku...’alofa.
