A sixteen months old girl died on Tuesday, December 11 when she was accidentally run over by a reversing vehicle at her home in Ngele‘ia.

Police said today the accident happened at around 8:00pm.

The victim was outside playing with other children, when a 70-year-man, a family member was reversing in their driveway and did not know the child, who was outside playing with other children was behind the vehicle and ran her over.

She was rushed to Vaiola Hospital where she died shortly after.

The driver has been charged with manslaughter by negligence.
