A 54-year-old man of foreign nationality was arrested with methamphetamine and cash on Saturday morning, December 8 at his residence, the former Good Samaritan Inn in Kolovai.

The Police Drugs Enforcement Taskforce with the Criminal Investigation Unit jointly made the arrest after executing a search warrant.

Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today one pack of methamphetamine, drugs paraphernalia, electronic devices and cash were seized from the residence.

He has been charged with possession of illicit drugs and was released on bail on Monday, December 10.

Police have not released his nationality at this stage.

Meanwhile, this arrest was part of a 10-hour police operation targeting suspects of housebreaking and thefts with links to drug offending and those with outstanding bench warrants.

The accused was among three suspects arrested for possession of illicit drugs out of 23 people arrested during this operation.

It only takes one call to disrupt the supply of drugs in your community, said Vailea.

“We encourage anyone who can provide information of drug dealing to contact Tonga Police. We are committed to disrupting the supply of these drugs and preventing the harm this illegal trade supports,” he said.
