The Tongan Legislature will reconvene on Monday October 2 following its closure on September 7.
The 2006 parliamentary session has been the most disrupted parliamentary session this century, despite the mounting legislation and other issues for the House to deal with to ascertain an economic recovery.
A spokesperson from the Tongan parliament said that the closure of the House during the funeral of the late king, Taufa'ahau Tupou IV was to enable Cabinet Ministers and nobles to fulfill their traditional obligations.
The House will reconvene on October 2 following the Pongipongi Tapu of the Royal Funeral and the Taumafa Kava on Saturday September 30.
The country's one-month mourning period following the death of Tupou IV ends on October 17.
Meanwhile, in Nuku...alofa nobles are continuing their daily Ha'amo or their presentations of food to HM King George Tupou V, which began on September 20, and will continue until Friday September 29, the tenth day after Tupou IV's burial at the Royal Tombs, Mala'ekula.
The Sacred Morning or Pongipongi Tapu will then be held on the eleventh day, Saturday September 30, together with a Royal Kava Circle or Taumafa Kava to be presided over by HM King George Tupou V at Pangai Lahi.
