Five men who were arrested on November 15 after illicit drugs and a pistol were seized in a vehicle during a police routine traffic stop on Hihifo Road, and also at a property in Fangaloto, appeared at the Fasi Magistrate's Court on November 26.

Their case was adjourned to February 4, 2019 when the results of a drug test sent to New Zealand should be ready, said the Police Prosecutor.

Creed Tongamoa (47) is the alleged driver of the vehicle and Pita Talanoa (35), the passenger.

Tonga Police had seized from inside this vehicle, methamphetamine, cannabis and a pistol with live bullets.

The other three who were arrested allegedly with more drugs and a bullet shell at the driver's property in Fangaloto, are Taniela Uasike, Tevita ‘Alatini and Lokuvalu Leha.

Tonga Police reported the drugs seized included 13.42 grams of methamphetamine and 2.06 grams of cannabis.

The Police informed the lower court that their work against the accused was done and the Magistrate granted them bail (under conditions) to return on the set date.

The accused who were in police custody to date have been similarly charged with possession of the illicit drugs, and other charges.
