Jamaica’s “Reggae Warriors” have successfully qualified for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup after defeating the United States 16 – 10 on 18 November in Jacksonville, Florida.
The historic win makes Jamaica the first Caribbean nation to qualify for a Rugby League world cup.
“This is massive for the Jamaican nation”, Jamaican head coach Romeo Monteith told Rugby League Planet.
“To reach a World Cup is something extra special, it feels like there is one love”, he added.
The self-funded Jamaican team comprised a mixture of players from domestic clubs in Jamaica and professional clubs in England’s Super League and Betfred Championships.
