Wales ran in ten tries against the ‘Ikale Tahi this morning in Cardiff, Wales. The score was levelled 24 – 24 before a second-half surge by Wales resulted in seven unanswered tries.

Three early tries saw Wales lead 24 – 3 in the 20th minute. The score line was narrowed to 24 – 17 before halftime after Tonga’s two lock forwards Leva Fifita and Steve Mafi powered their way to the Welsh try line. Sione Vailanu scored Tonga’s third try in the 42nd minute via an interception to level the score 24 – 24.

The threat of an embarrassing home defeat was appearing on the horizon for Wales, prompting them to retaliate with a high tempo performance that the ‘Ikale Tahi failed to contain. The Welsh scored seven unanswered tries to secure themselves a convincing win 74 – 24.

The ‘Ikale Tahi will play the last game of their Northern Hemisphere campaign against Georgia on 24 November.
