A 17-year youth died this morning in Vava‘u after he reportedly fell from a one tonne truck that was travelling on a road from Toula to Neiafu.

Vava’u District Commander, Acting Superintendent Taulango Tapueluelu said today the victim was sitting at the back of the truck when he fell onto to the road.

He died at the scene. His body remains at the mortuary as police continue their investigation into the circumstances of this accident.

Tonga Police advisedthe public to put their safety first when travelling in their vehicles.

This is the 20^th road death recorded in Tonga so far this year.
