A special session of the Tongan Parliament that was scheduled for 7pm this evening, Tuesday 6 November has been deferred indefinitely.

It was expected that the House would decide on a way forward with a petition to impeach seven Cabinet Ministers, including the Prime Minister.

However, a receptionist at the Parliament House confirmed this evening that the special parliamentary session had been deferred.

After an late-night session of the House on Thursday 1 November the Speaker Lord Fakafanua had announced that the House would reconvene at 7 pm tonight.
