Woman injured on road after Mate Ma‘a Tonga game [1]

A woman is in hospital after injuring her leg when she was allegedly hit by a vehicle on Vuna Road, Nuku‘alofa, on Saturday night, October 20 after the televised Mate Ma’a Tonga match against Australia had ended.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today the victim was standing in the middle of the road as vehicles were honking and playing music after 10:00pm.
He said a 43-year-old woman driver has been charged with reckless driving causing harm.
The victim reportedly broke her leg and was receiving treatment, he said.
