Two more charged in Lavulavu fraud case [1]

Two new accused have been charged in relation to the fraud case against a former Minister of Internal Affairs ‘Akosita Lavulavu, and her husband, a former Cabinet Minister, ‘Etuate Lavulavu.
The Magistrate’s Court office said today, the two accused were charged together with the couple in this case.
The case called today October 23 at the Fasi Magistrate's Court, saw ‘Akosita Lavulavu and the two accused adjourned together for Chambers October 26. The names were not released at this stage.
‘Etuate's Lavulavu’s case was adjourned to December 3.
The Lavulavu couple have been charged with three counts each of knowingly dealing with forged documents and obtaining credit by false pretences, relating to a number of irregularities in an audit of the ‘Unuaki ‘o Tonga Royal Institute in 2016.
'Akosita Lavulavu, a current MP, was sacked from her ministerial position by the Prime Minister due to the criminal charges.
