Mate Ma’a Tonga’s veteran captain Sika Manu will miss out on Tonga’s historic rugby league showdown with Australia, after being ruled out with a knee injury by his Super League club Hull FC in England.
The club released a media statement today saying that Manu suffered a knee injury in match against St Helens RFC last Friday, 14 September.
Hull FC coach Lee Radford said in the statement that the injury was “gutting”.
“Sika is the latest member of our squad to be ruled out for the remainder of the season and it’s gutting for us. It’s gutting for him, too, because he’ll miss Tonga’s game against Australia next month, which would have been a great experience for him,” Radford said.
“I’ve said it plenty of times this season but injuries have cursed us. Not just the amount of injuries, but also the severity of the injuries.”
