Player of the Year awards for Taumalolo and Taufa in Sydney [1]

Rugby League stars Jason Taumalolo and Simaima Taufa, both won Player of the Year awards at the 2018 Players’ Champion accolades ceremony held in Sydney on Tuesday night.

The Players’ Champion awards is an annual ceremony organized by Australia’s Rugby League Players Association.

Mate Ma’a Tonga star Jason Taumalolo won the award for ‘Representative Player of the Year’ for his key role in the rise of Tongan rugby league in the international arena.

Jilaroos lock Simaima Taufa won the award for ‘Elite Women’s Player of the Year’ in recognition of her stellar performance at the Women’s Rugby League World Cup last year. The Jilaroos won the tournament after beating New Zealand in the final.

Newcastle Knights star Kalyn Ponga won the RLPA Players' Champion award: an award recognizing the best player in the NRL Premiership.
