70 year old charged with cocaine possession [1]

'Isileli Fatani, (70) from Kolonga appeared in the Supreme Court at Nuku'alofa this morning charged with the possession of one ounce of the illicit drug Cocaine.

The trial by a seven-member jury is presided over by Chief Justice Robin Webster. The legal counsel for the Crown is Linda Simiki and the defendant is represented by Siosifa Tu'utafaiva.

It is alleged that the police found the illicit drug at 'Isileli Fatani's residence at Kolonga in June 2001.

The Crown will call 12 witnesses and the trial is expected to take three days.
