Tonga's Prime Minister, Hon ‘Akilisi Pohiva is leading Tonga’s delegation to the 49^th Pacific Islands Forum Meeting held in Nauru from September 3-6.

The theme this year is "Building a Strong Pacific: Our People, Our Islands, Our Will".

The Forum starts with the meeting of Leaders of the Small Islands States (SIS), followed by the meeting of the Leaders of the Pacific island countries members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group and the opening ceremony on September 3.

On September 4, the Pacific Island Forum (PIF) Leaders will hold a Dialogue session with representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSO), followed by a session Private Sector representatives.

This will be in addition to a dialogue session with Associate Members and Forum Observers and a session with Forum Dialogue Partners.

Forum Leaders will then meet heads of the CROP agencies followed by the Forum Leaders’ Retreat before ending with a State Banquet on September 5.

Tonga's delegation includes the Minister for Commerce, Consumer, Trade, Innovation & Labour, Hon Dr. Tu’i Uata; Acting Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet, 'Olita Tupou; Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mahe Tupouniua; CEO of the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer, Trade, Innovation & Labour, Edgar Cocker; Political and Media Adviser to PM, Lopeti Senituli and PM Office photojournalist, Suliana Pomana.

The PM leaves Tonga today, Friday, August 31.
