A total of 110 water tanks were donated to the Government of Tonga by the local government of Dongguan, a city in the Guangdong Province of China.
The donation was officially presented to Tonga's Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Semisi Sika by the Chinese Ambassador H.E Mr Wang Baodong on August 9.
The Chinese Embassy in Nuku'alofa said it was part of a donation package from Dongguan City under the direction of the Central Government. It is also part of China's recovery donation to the people of Tonga after Tropical Cyclone Gita in February.
The 2000 litre water tanks are currently stored at Vuna wharf ready to be distributed by the Tongan Government to needy families.
