AAn arrest warrant has been issued for a 38-year-old man who failed to appear at the Fasi Magistrate's Court on Monday, July 23 on charges related to the death of an 11-year-old girl on the road.

Vainiaku ‘Aisea who is charged with reckless driving causing death was released on bail last week to appear at the lower court today.

However, he did not turn up and the Magistrate issued the warrant for his arrest to Tonga Police.

The accused from Popua is alleged to have overtaken in the face of oncoming traffic on Bypass Road, colliding with the victim, Hinemoa Mahoni on Saturday, July 14.

The victim who was waiting for a bus on the side of the road with other members of her family, died on Sunday, July 15 at Vaiola Hospital.
