Man arrested after two burglaries [1]

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in relation to two break-ins and theft from businesses situated at the old Molisi Tonga building in Fasi.

Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today the accused, who lived around the area, allegedly broke in and stole electronic goods from the Tonga Business Enterprise Centre (TBEC ) on the night of June 21.

This included a laptop, hard drive and other goods valued at over $3,000 pa'anga.

On July 8 at around 6:00am, it is alleged that he again broke into a Chinese shop located in the same building.

Cash of around $1,500 pa'anga, phone cards worth $4,000 and cigarettes totaling at a value of $9,000 pa’anga were stolen.

The accused who is charged with housebreaking and theft remains in custody as investigation continues, he said.
