Accused in big cocaine bust apply for bail [1]

The two Tongan men arrested in relation to the seizure of 58 kilograms of cocaine worth around $30 million pa’anga in street value in Ha’apai have applied for bail in Nuku’alofa.

Aged 26 and 28 years old, they appeared at the Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 16.

They applied for bail, and the Magistrate would make a ruling on Friday, July 20 on their bail application, said the lower court’s office in Nuku'alofa today.

In the meantime, the accused remain detained in police custody.

The cocaine seizure was carried out during a Tonga Police operation in June.
