Hinemoa Mahoni (11) died after being hit by an overtaking vehicle on By Pass Road on Saturday, July 14, Tonga Police said today.

The young victim from Halaleva was waiting for a bus with other members of her family, on the side of the road when the accident occurred.

The accused, a male driver allegedly overtook in the face of oncoming traffic on Bypass Road, crashing into the victim.

She died on Sunday, July 15 at Vaiola Hospital.

The accused from Popua faces charges of reckless driving causing death.
