Three men who are alleged to have been dealing illicit drugs were arrested in an area on the eastern side of Tongatapu on June 25.

Acting Chief Superintendent Sisi Tonga said Mu’a Police station received a report from a member of the public of suspicious illegal activity relating to drugs being sold from a van parked in an area between Fatumu and Lavengatonga.

Police responded to the site and arrested the three accused who were allegedly in possession of one plastic bag of methamphetamine, one .22 rifle and ammunition.

"Investigation continues to determine the amount seized but we want to thank the public for reporting suspicious illegal activities to police," he said.

The accused from Pea and Folaha have been similarly charged with possession of the illicit drug and possession of an arm without a license.

They are due in the Magistrate’s Court on a date to be confirmed.
