Makasini to officiate Iceland vs Nigeria [1]

Tongan referee Tevita Makasini will officiate a 2018 Football World Cup game between Iceland and Nigeria in Russia this Saturday 23 June (Tonga Standard Time).

The Tailulu High School tutor will work as an assistant referee in the match, providing support to New Zealand referee Matthew Conger.

The decisions made by match officials will be heavily scrutinized as both Nigeria and Iceland need a victory to keep their knockout stage hopes alive.

Makasini possesses World Cup experience, having officiated one game at the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa. He has officiated games at the 2016 Rio Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics, FIFA 2017 U20 World Cup (2017 and 2015) and U17 World Cup (2013 and 2009).
