Vilison Finau (51) the police officer charged in relation to a road death at Vaha'akolo Road roundabout on June 1 had his case adjourned to July 30 at the Fasi Magistrate's Court.

The accused appeared at the lower court today, June 11 and his case adjourned to allow time for documents to be filed with the lower court before the case proceeds further.

He is charged with reckless driving causing the death of Tou’anga Kamea (37), and two other counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving a vehicle with no number plate. 

Police reported earlier that the accused officer, who was off duty at the time, was driving a UT Ford van heading north on Vaha’akolo Road, when he allegedly failed to give way at the roundabout and crashed into the driver's door of the white car driven by the victim.
