An impressive Tonga Rugby League development team defeated all its opponents to win the Hong Kong Nines tournament on Sunday 27 May in Kowloon. The team was made up entirely of local players.

Only one opponent managed to score a try against the Tonga development side, that team being the Pacific Toa who lost to Tonga in the Final 12 – 6.

The annual Hong Kong Nines tournament is the fourth edition since the competition’s inauguration in 2015. According to its organizers, this year’s tournament was the largest to date with ten teams participating.

The Tonga development team played a total of six games in competition.
