Child dies after being hit by vehicle at Vaini [1]

A four-year-old boy died on May 15 after being hit by a vehicle on Taufa’ahau Road in Vaini.

A 60-year-old male driver from Vaini has been arrested and charged with reckless driving causing death.

Police today said the boy was reportedly playing on the side of the road but then ran onto the road and was hit by the vehicle, at around 3:00pm.

This is the third death caused by a vehicle in the last four days and the 12th road fatality so far this year.
