A cleaner at Fua’amotu International Airport was arrested last week in relation to an estimated $2 million pa’anga worth of methamphetamine seized on May 8, at the airport.
Police confirmed the second male accused as a cleaner at the airport, who is being detained in relation to allegations of abetting this offence.
Meanwhile, the first accused, a 59-year-old Tongan man who was arrested in possession of 1.9kg of the illicit drug at the departure lounge remains in custody.
He had intended to smuggle the illicit drug out from Tonga to New Zealand.
Both accused are expected to appear at the Fasi Magistrate's Court on Friday, May 18.
However, the lower court confirmed that the first accused's case had been adjourned to August 30 for parties to file documents, but he remained in custody to appear on Friday for bail reasons.
