A three-year-old girl died on Saturday, May 12 when she was accidentally run over by a reversing vehicle at ‘Utulau.

Police said the accident happened when a 26-year-old father took three others, including his daughter, to clean up a cemetery.

At around 7:00pm they were packing-up and getting on the vehicle to return home. Tonga Police said that the father was reported to have been unaware that his daughter had fallen out of the Mitsubishi Delica vehicle when he reversed and accidentally ran over her.

The victim was rushed to Vaiola Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
