NetGo Netball Program launched in Tonga [1]

Netball New Zealand and the Tonga Netball Association initiated the “NetGo Netball Program” with a launching ceremony at the Tokomololo Government Primary School last Wednesday 9 May 2018.
The four-year program promotes the sport of Netball among primary school children, supplying netball kits and upskilling teachers on the rules of the game. This year It will be implemented in ten Government Primary schools as a trial.
The initiative is part of the Pacific Sporting Partnerships Programme (PSP) started by the New Zealand Government in 2016. It’s core objective according to the New Zealand Government is to “…getting more children in Pacific countries playing sports and making them healthier”.
Attending the ceremony was Tonga’s Minister of Education and Internal Affairs Hon. Penisimani Fifita and the New Zealand High Commissioner HE. Tiffany Babington. The ceremony also included the presence of acclaimed former Silver Fern Coach Ruth Aitken and PSP Program Manager, Ivan Harré from Netball NZ.
The ten schools to trial the initiative are GPS Longoteme, GPS Fua’amotu, GPS Tu’aliku, GPS Haveluliku, GPS Fatumu, GPS Hoi, GPS Tokomololo, GPS Ngele’ia, GPS Hofoa, and GPS Houma.
