Machete injury in Sopu confrontation [1]

A man sustained minor injury from a machete attack during a confrontation at Sopu on Sunday night, April 29, where a group of men turned up with a firearm and a machete and threatened a group who were drinking at the area.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today the incident took place at around 5:00am, where a group of people were drinking alcohol on the Sopu waterfront.
When threatened by the armed men, the drinking group tried to escape and this was when the man got injured, he said.
A vehicle was set on fire at the site.
He said when police responded to the scene the armed group had fled. The police investigation led to a man arrested at Lomaiviti on April 30.
The injured man was treated and discharged from Vaiola Hospital.
