Tu‘ivakano case adjourned, evidence served [1]

Tongan noble and former Prime Minister, Lord Tu’ivakano had his case adjourned again to May 28, after appearing at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court today, when the evidence against him was served by the prosecution.

The accused represented by Clive Edwards, was served with the evidence, which consisted of 40 ring binder folders.

His counsel requested the adjournment to May 28, to allow him sufficient time to go over the substantial evidence, before the defence makes their response.

Lord Tu’ivakano who was arrested on March 1, was charged with 10 counts, including one of making a false declaration to obtain a passport, two perjury counts, five for accepting bribes and two counts of money laundering.

He is currently Tongatapu’s No. 1 Noble's Representative to Parliament.
