The Niua Foundation in a project to set up a computer laboratory for Niuatoputapu High School is sending six new personal computers to the isolated northern island.

‘Ana Emberson, the founder of the Niua Foundation, said that Niuatoputapu High School had no computer laboratory for its students to use, so the arrival of the six computers in the school will be a great facility for the students.

‘‘Ana said the Dell computers were donated by an American tourist Liz Pearl, who on a visit to Niuatoputapu met two teachers from the high school who asked if she could help with their need for school computers. Through the internet Liz found ...‘Ana and her work with the Niua Foundation and approached her.

The Niua Foundation then organised the transportation of the computers and asked Captain Mark Shepherd Smith who owns a yacht called Tatu to take the computers to Niuatoputapu. The foundation held a small reception on Tuesday August 1 at Pangaimotu Island Resort for Captain Shepherd, before the Tatu departed Tongatapu for Niuatoputapu on August 4.
