Pedestrian death in rain at Veitongo [1]

A 51-year-old man from Folaha died on Tuesday night, April 3 after he was hit by a vehicle, while walking on the side of Taufa’ahau road at Veitongo.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today the accident was reported to police at 11:30pm.
It was dark and raining heavily when the accused driver, a 60-year-old man who was driving west with two passengers, is alleged to have hit the victim who was walking on the side of the road.
The victim was rushed to Vaiola Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The accused driver from Tofoa has been charged with reckless driving causing death.
