A 61-year-old woman, a Chinese national is in critical condition at Vaiola Hospital, after she was hit on the head with a rock by two teenage boys at her shop in Lapaha on Sunday night, March 18.

Two teenage boys aged 16-17 from the same village were arrested early this morning in relation to this offence.

Police said today the assault and theft occurred at around 9:00pm, when the two accused allegedly knocked at the shop to buy cigarettes.

When the victim opened her door they forced themselves in, hit her on the head with the rock and fled with cash, cigarettes and other items. It is alleged both had been sniffing benzine prior to the offence.

The victim who sustained serious head injury is in critical condition.

Police investigation continues.
