Food and water were donated to line mechanics still working tireless to restore the power in Tongatapu post cyclone Gita, by Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku’aho on March 13.

As Tonga’s High Commissioner to Australia, her donation helped 80 line workers and Tonga Power Ltd staff working to restore power at Navutoka, Liukava, Fo’ui, Keleti Beach Resort, Sia’atoutai, Mataika, Halaleva, Kolofo’ou and Tofoa.

Tonga Power General Manager for Operations Seti Chen said the food from the Princess is a welcome blessing and is appreciated by staff.

“It will help us with the cost of feeding our team as large amounts of food and water are delivered each day to cater for our daily needs."

Tonga Power has committed a large number of staff towards the network restoration in Tongatapu and we need food and water on a daily basis to be able to carry out the works to restore power, he said.
