Princess on post cyclone visit [1]

Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku’aho today visited the National Emergency Management Office NEMO to find out, and receive advice on what Tongans in Australia could assist in post cyclone recovery.
As Tonga’s High Commissioner to Australia based in Canberra she met with Hon Poasi Tei, MEIDECC Minister and was briefed on Tropical Cyclone Gita Operation by Leveni ‘Aho, NEMO Director.
The importance is for the Tongan community in Australia to know what kind of assistance they need to send to help, said Leonaitasi Kuluni who accompanied the Princess from Canberra.
Leveni advised that its best to send financial assistance then goods.
We are working with counterparts like the Salvation Army to help families in terms of food supplies, although Tonga's food supply is stable and satisafactory as advised by the Ministry of Agriculture, he said.
The Princess acknowledged the work done by NEMO and its counterparts on efforts to assist people affected by the cyclone.
