A 17-year-old boy was rescued by Tonga Police after he reportedly jumped into the sea and drifted some 600 metres from the coastline at Fua’amotu this morning, March 9.

Police received the report at 8:25am and quickly responded. A search and rescue team retrived the teenager after 9:00am.

He was rushed to Vaiola Hospital, where his condition is being monitored.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
