Tonga tops pools at Commonwealth 9s tournament [1]

The Tonga Men’s and Women’s Nines Rugby League teams have topped their pools, defeating all of their opponents on Day One of the Rugby League 2018 Commonwealth Championship in Brisbane, Australia, yesterday 23 February. The finals of the tournament will take place today.
The Tonga men’s team defeated England 12 – 6, Samoa 22 – 8 and Papua New Guinea 20 – 12.
The Tonga women’s team defeated Canada 8 – 4 and the Cook Islands 12 – 4.
Australia also topped it’s pools in the tournament. The Australia men’s team defeated Wales 30 – 0, Scotland 36 – 0 and Fiji 24 – 4. The Australia women’s team defeated Samoa 26 – 4 and Fiji 24 – 0.
New Zealand is not participating in the competition.
According to organizers, all proceeds from ticket sales at the tournament, will be donated to assist victims of Cyclone Gita.
