English rugby club, Bath Rugby, yesterday signed ‘Ikale Tahi winger Cooper Vuna for one season in the Aviva Premiership. The 30-year-old played for the ‘Ikale Tahi last year against Manu Samoa and Fiji.
Vuna said in a Bath Rugby statement yesterday: “I’m really excited that the opportunity to join Bath has come up. There’s a lot to play for, and I’m looking forward to getting out there on the pitch and making a difference when I get an opportunity.”
Bath’s Director of Rugby and former All Black, Todd Blackadder, added: “Cooper is someone that can offer the Club a great deal in terms of ability and experience. To be able to bring in a player of his calibre at this stage of the season is a real boost for us, and we’re really excited to see what he can bring to the team over the next few months.”
Cooper Vuna’s resume boasts a wealth of experience. He originally played Rugby League for the New Zealand Warriors and the Newcastle Knights in the NRL Premiership. He played for the Melbourne Rebels in the Super Rugby competition for three seasons (2011 – 2013) before moving to Japan. He was signed by the Worcester Warriors in 2015. Vuna captained the Mate Ma’a Tonga in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
