A Christmas gift of $6,000 pa’anga was made to the Alonga Adult Disabled Centre, in Pea on December 22, by a Tongan family from the USA.

Ni Fonua and his children Lavinia Mata ‘o Taone and ‘Uluvalu Fonua, from Seattle, Washington, made the donation.

Ni who is the CEO of Ulavain Films based in Beverly Hills, California, said they wanted to give a little Christmas present before they left Tonga. The gift was made in memory of the late Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata’aho who was a long time patron of the Centre.

“I am very privileged to be here today to give our present and show our love," he said.

He had talked with the children's great grandmother ‘Evelini 'Akau'ola of their wish to give a christmas present and she suggested this centre.

Ni is also starting a Tonga Film Commission in Nuku’alofa and in Vava’u, aimed at producing feature films.

The centre's coordinator, Lavinia Satini was grateful for the donation. "This generous donation would help finance our daily operations, especially during the holidays because everyone will spend the holidays with us. Thank you."
