Two men are pending court appearances after being arrested for possession of cannabis, methamphetamine and ammunition, during two separate search warrants in Tongatapu.

A 39-year-old from Tokomololo was arrested after police seized 4.66 grams of cannabis allegedly in his possession, on November 5.

On November 8 at around 6:00am in Vaotu’u, a 27-year-old was arrested with 0.37 grams of methamphetamine and 51 (.22 rifle) ammunition.

The Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said there is no place in our communities for illegal drugs and they will continue to prosecute those who grow, sell or use illegal drugs.

Information about drug offending can be made to police stations or anonymously by phoning 23417 or 25147, he said.

The accused who are on bail are expected to appear at the Magistrate's Court on a date to be confirmed.
