Taxi driver charged with rape of passenger [1]

A 27-year-old man has been charged with raping a 26-year-old woman alleged to have occurred at a bush allotment in Tokomololo, on October 19.

The accused is a taxi driver. The victim was using the taxi service to travel home on the night of the incident, which allegedly took place at around 1:00am, said a police spokesperson today.

Police arrested the suspect on October 19 after the victim filed a rape complaint.

He is in police custody to appear at the Magistrate's Court today, October 24.
